Host-Pathogen Interactions in Emerging Plant Diseases
This research program focuses on deciphering molecular mechanisms underlying emerging fungal and bacterial diseases threatening tropical agriculture. Using comparative transcriptomics, proteomics, and functional genomics, we will identify virulence factors and host susceptibility genes. The project emphasizes translational outcomes, aiming to develop diagnostic tools and resistance breeding strategies that can be rapidly deployed to protect crop production in the region.

Genomic Adaptation in Southeast Asian Rice Varieties
This multidisciplinary initiative employs population genomics and ecological modeling to understand how traditional rice landraces have adapted to diverse Southeast Asian environments over millennia. By integrating whole-genome sequencing with climate data and agronomic traits, we seek to identify genetic variants underlying local adaptation. The findings will inform conservation strategies and support development of climate-resilient rice varieties for future food security.
